The Shelby Middle School Essay contest sponsored by Keep Shelby Beautiful and First National Bank was held on March 5th and awards were presented on April 6th.

The writing prompt this year was about waste reduction. Students wrote about how their actions could contribute to waste reduction at home and at school. Waste reduction includes reducing use, reuse, and recyling (the EPA's three R's).
